When asked to collaborate with the owners of this nostalgic establishment, Travelers Inn, I was so elated to help and offer my expertise. This building is one of the originals to this community, it has stories beyond stories to tell. They wanted to update and refine the rear dining room and rejuvenate it to make it more inviting and efficient.
My main goal was to lend the redesign to the history of the space and not lose the true essence of such a historic building.
We did just that with a new fresh tin tile ceiling, clean lines, ambient lighting, updated booth finishes and an incredible addition of Chicago style brick to selected walls and doorways.
My favorite part was definitely the addition of brick. We were inspired by the exterior and wanted to continue that texture on the inside.
What got me even more excited was to have old pictures remade into stretched canvases that were strategically arranged to draw patrons in and truly get a feel for the sentimentality of this restaurant.
